The WACREN Diamond Open Access Day forms the implementation-focused continuation of the LIBSENSE Open Science Symposium.
While Day 1 initiates national dialogue toward a Gambian National Open Science Roadmap, Day 2 explores one of its core operational pillars: community-led Diamond Open Access publishing.
The programme brings together researchers, librarians, publishers, and open infrastructure partners to examine practical pathways for sustainable, no-fee Open Access publishing across journals, books, and repositories.
Discussions will address:
- Editorial governance and quality standards
- Metadata workflows and interoperability
- Persistent identifiers (DOIs, ORCID, ROR)
- Repository and publishing platform integration
- Institutional readiness and capacity development
Day 2 connects national policy ambitions with practical implementation mechanisms and regional infrastructure expertise.
