This year’s annual Eko-Konnect Users Conference, themed: "Pathways to a Digital Future: Empowering Nigeria’s Research and Education Network", will focus on utilising digital infrastructure and collaborative platforms to improve practice, output, and visibility of the Nigerian REN community’s research output and scholarly outputs. It will also examine ways to improve REN users' digital identity and mobility to take full advantage of local and global digital services and adhere to globally accepted standards for research and scholarly practice.
The Conference brings together practitioners in the research and education community including Senior Management (Vice Chancellors and Deputy Vice Chancellors), Policymakers, Directors of ICT, Librarians, researchers and Service Providers and Funders from the Nigerian and West African regions.
Objectives and Goals:
- Increased adoption of open infrastructure for scholarly communications and collaboration.
- Using locally available infrastructure for producing and publishing scholarly content.
- Embrace the use of Digital education Identity to improve network access and security, wi-fi mobility and access to local and global services
- Increase the awareness and growing importance of AI for RENs
- Community development around the use of shared services and collaboration platforms.
- Capacity development of the Nigerian REN community to improve digital teaching and learning using integrated digital teaching infrastructure.
- Drive digital sustainability through agreed policy and funding mechanisms
