WACREN invites cybersecurity professionals and incident response teams from across Africa to participate in the TrustBroker Africa VI Community and Training Event, taking place 18–22 May 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.
TrustBroker Africa (TBA) is a pan-African cybersecurity collaboration community that connects incident response teams and security practitioners working to protect digital infrastructure across the continent. Through trusted relationships, operational collaboration, and technical training, the community supports the development of stronger cybersecurity capabilities within research and education networks and beyond.
The TrustBroker Africa VI event will bring together CSIRT teams, NREN security operators, institutional security teams, and national cybersecurity organisations to strengthen operational collaboration and share practical experience in cybersecurity operations.
Objectives
The TrustBroker Africa VI community event aims to:
- strengthen trusted collaboration between incident response teams across Africa
- support the development and maturity of CSIRT capabilities
- facilitate operational knowledge exchange between security practitioners
- build stronger connections between NREN security teams and national cybersecurity ecosystems
- contribute to the development of a trusted cybersecurity collaboration environment for the research and education sector.
Activities
The TrustBroker Africa VI programme will include:
CSIRT and Security Operations Training
Technical workshops focused on practical aspects of cybersecurity operations, including incident response practices, operational security tooling, and collaborative security operations.
Community Collaboration Sessions
Sessions enabling participating organisations to exchange operational experience, discuss emerging challenges, and strengthen trusted relationships between teams.
Operational Security Discussions
Technical discussions addressing cybersecurity challenges affecting research and education infrastructure and digital research environments.
CyberBastion Africa League Finals
The CyberBastion Africa League Finals, a cyber defence simulation exercise introduced under the TrustBroker Africa community, will take place during the event week.
Qualifying teams from the CyberBastion online phase will participate in the final cyber defence challenge.
Who should participate?
Participation is intended primarily for operational cybersecurity professionals and organisations involved in incident response and security operations.
Participants may include:
- National Research and Education Network (NREN) security teams
- university and institutional CSIRTs
- national CSIRTs and cybersecurity agencies
- Security Operations Centre (SOC) teams
- cybersecurity practitioners responsible for protecting critical digital infrastructure.
The TrustBroker Africa VI community event represents an important milestone in continuing to grow this trusted network of cybersecurity professionals and operational teams.
