Workshop Sessions

There will be three main sessions:

  1. Overview of benefits of and requirements for a national repository service, covering aspects such as:
    • Efficiency and cost-reduction - keeping repository software up-to-date and current with evolving technologies

    • Central support while maintaining independence in content management and branding

    • Implementation of national policies

    • Offering well-managed interfaces to the world, allowing institutional repositories to participate in the global infrastructure.

      • Integration of other national infrastructure (e.g. for metadata, PIDs, eduID)

      • Support for federation of content, harvesting, indexing, etc.

      • Support for interoperability with remote services - e.g. indexes, aggregations, peer-review, annotation services

      • Safeguarding content/data - preservation

  2. Open discussion of the (technical) requirements from institutions that a national service must address

  3. An in-depth examination of the benefits and requirements for a national metadata profile, using Rioxx 3 as a worked example.

Beyond this, the workshop's structure will be flexible to accommodate the participants' various needs and interests.

Before the workshop, technical resources and relevant reference materials will be shared in the Gitlab repository.
