Description

WACREN and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) acknowledge the critical importance of high-quality research practices in amplifying the global impact of African research. Therefore, it stresses the necessity of active leadership involvement to foster research excellence throughout the continent.

This LIBSENSE workshop, with financial support from the AfricaConnect3 project (co-funded by the European Commission), aims to foster collaboration among leaders in higher education, regulators, and research funders within Nigeria and the WACREN region to elevate research standards and their impact.

The workshop will highlight recent regional policy advancements and explore opportunities for national and international cooperation in higher education. It aims to improve understanding of digital object identifiers (DOIs) and alternative persistent identifiers (PIDs) like ARKs for research outputs and sustainable and inclusive approaches to encourage adoption. Additionally, it will address leadership in promoting research excellence and recommend establishing a sustainable research ecosystem.

Target Participants

  • Higher education leadership
  • Higher education regulators
  • Higher education research funders

Participants will benefit from insights and best practices, share experiences, enhance the collective capacity for research excellence, and lay the foundations for a more cohesive and effective research environment.
