About the facilitator

AfricaCERT is the African forum of computer  emergency response teams who cooperatively handle computer security incidents and promotes incident prevention programs.  The workshop is organised with WACREN as a program of the Africa Training Initiative (ATI) to establish the frameworks and build capacity to secure African NRENs.

Target Audience

Information/Security officers, Network/System admins or other persons responsible for security in campus networks and NRENs.  

What will participants get out of the workshop?

  • Better understanding of Internet threats and the need for an effective way to balance academic research and educational missions with the need for computer security.
  • Answers to questions about network situational awareness and incident handling in campus networks and the relationship with NREN and national CSIRTs 
  • Design and implementation plans for campus and NREN security teams
  • Connections among Research and Education network security communities towards establishment of a secure communication platform.

Fees and Registration

This workshop is free of charge, but requires registration.  The number of places is however limited and the organisers reserve the right to select participants amongst the applicants.
