Description

This one-day LIBSENSE workshop on “Co-designing collaborative free and open source open access publishing infrastructures” is organized in collaboration with EIFL and the Coko Foundation.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Conduct a high-level audit of needs for open access scholarly publishing in Africa (open source tools and services for publishing books, journals, textbooks, micropublications)

  • Discuss training needs and define training and support programmes

  • Share experiences and identify areas for collaborations around shared free and open source open access publishing infrastructure

  • Frame the Coalition for Open Access Publishing Infrastructures in Africa: tools, training, hosting and advice across Africa for all those that want it

Target Audience: Anyone is invited to attend. We welcome publishers, researchers, and tool builders to attend this initial open conversation on the possible future directions of this embryonic new initiative.

Logistics: A small amount of travel funding may be available.

How to attend: Please register here and explain how you would like to contribute to the workshop. The workshop organizers will get in touch with you to confirm your participation in the workshop.
