  forces once more as they wind down to showcase their outputs and outcomes
  and discuss the continued promotion of cross-border collaboration require
 d for the development and operation of research e-infrastructures in diffe
 rent world regions.\n\nFocused on user communities\, panel discussions wil
 l explore approaches for engaging and supporting these communities in Afri
 caConnect2 and underline the necessity of establishing e-infrastructures a
 s a sustainable utility.\n\nMAGIC (Middleware for collaborative Applicatio
 ns and Global vIrtual Communities) aims to significantly improve the abili
 ty of researchers and academics around the world to collaborate together\;
  it is working to expand the global reach of eduroam and identity infrastr
 uctures for the academia and on establishing middleware which will enable 
 NRENs to share services and real-time applications for international and i
 nter-continental research groups via a common marketplace\; at its heart a
 re Global Science Communities.\n\nSci-GaIA (Energising Scientific Endeavou
 r Through Science Gateways and e-Infrastructures in Africa) aims to work w
 ith African Communities of Practice to build sustainable Science Gateways 
 and supporting e-Infrastructure services and to help African scientists to
  promote and disseminate their works through the adoption of the Open Scie
 nce paradigm.\n\nTANDEM (TransAfrican Network Development) will create fav
 ourable conditions for WACREN\, enabling it to draw maximum benefit from t
 he forthcoming AfricaConnect2 project and ensuring it’s integration into
  the global REN community and its long-term sustainability. It aims to mak
 e it possible for researchers and academics to contribute with their peers
  around the world to the socio-economic development of the West and Centra
