DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Abigail Essel\n\nFacilitator Profile\nWomen-in-WACRE
N is seeking volunteer facilitators (men & women) for the Climate Innovati
on Lab 2026\, scheduled for October 12–15. This four-day intensive progr
am brings together multidisciplinary teams to design and build digital sol
utions addressing climate challenges across West and Central Africa.\nExpe
rtise we need\nFacilitators should have hands-on experience in one or more
  of these areas:\n\n\nClimate & environment — adaptation\, mitigation\,
environmental sustainability\, resilience\, or related African climate cha
llenges.\n\n\nDigital technologies for climate action — applying AI\, da
ta science\, GIS\, Earth observation\, IoT\, digital platforms or other em
erging tech to climate and environmental problems.\n\n\nHuman-centred desi
gn — problem definition\, user and stakeholder research\, needs analysis
 \, translating real-world challenges into solution requirements.\n\n\nDesi
gn thinking & ideation — running collaborative ideation\, weighing appro
aches\, helping teams sharpen ideas into viable concepts.\n\n\nTesting\, d
 ocumentation & iteration — user testing\, interpreting feedback\, refini
ng solutions\, producing the documentation teams need.\n\n\nPitching & Ado
ption — helping teams articulate the problem\, the solution\, the expect
ed impact\,  potential funding\, partnerships\, prepare a strong demo and
what it takes to carry a promising prototype beyond the Lab.\n\n\nWho we'
re looking for\n\n\nPractical experience in at least one area above\, not
just familiarity with it.\n\n\nComfortable facilitating and mentoring\, no
t lecturing.\n\n\nAt ease with multidisciplinary teams spanning different
levels of technical skill.\n\n\nSkilled at helping teams turn broad challe
nges into specific\, achievable solutions.\n\n\nFamiliar with African rese
 arch\, education\, innovation\, climate or technology environments\, ideal
ly through direct experience.\n\n\nAble to give honest\, constructive feed
back while leaving teams ownership of their ideas.\n\n\nOpen to working al
ongside other facilitators whose strengths complement their own.\n\n\nFaci
litators can come from universities\, research institutions\, NRENs\, inno
vation hubs\, government\, industry\, civil society or development organis
ations.\nRole during the Lab\nFacilitators guide teams through the full ar
 c: climate challenge\, problem definition\, user needs\, ideation\, soluti
 on design\, prototype\, testing\, demonstration\, roadmap.\nThis is learni
ng by doing. Most of a facilitator's time goes into working directly with
teams: asking questions\, challenging assumptions\, offering specialist in
put\, and helping participants make real progress rather than sitting in o
n theory.\nSelected facilitators may also be invited into the programme's
post-Lab Community of Practice and ongoing solution mentorship.\nWhat’s
in it for you\n\n\nVisibility and Recognition\n\n\nExpanded Professional N
 etwork\n\n\nLeadership Development\n\n\nCertificate/Formal Acknowledgment\
 n\nSponsorship for in-person participation at the innovation lab\n\n \nAp
plication Deadline: September 15\, 2026Selection Notification: September 2
