Description

BGP is a crucial component of the internet infrastructure, enabling efficient and reliable routing of data between different networks. For NRENs, mastering BGP is essential for ensuring high performance, resilience, and scalability of their networks. By providing targeted training in BGP, WACREN aims to strengthen the technical expertise of both the connected and soon-to-be-?connected NRENs and facilitate their integration into the broader WACREN ecosystem.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Provide comprehensive knowledge of BGP: The workshop will cover the fundamental concepts of BGP, including route selection, path attributes, policy implementation, and troubleshooting.
  2. Enhance practical skills: Through hands-on sessions, participants will gain practical experience in configuring and managing BGP on real-world network equipment
  3. Facilitate integration with the WACREN network: The training will focus on the specific requirements and procedures for connecting to the WACREN network, ensuring a smooth and efficient integration process
  4. Guide the acquisition of public IPs: WACREN will also guide the new NRENs on acquiring their public IP addresses, a critical step for independent network operation and growth.
  5. Enable knowledge transfer: Participants will be equipped with the skills to train others within their NRENs, creating a sustainable model for ongoing knowledge dissemination and capacity building.

The BGP training workshop organized by WACREN represents a critical step towards empowering WACREN NRENs with the knowledge and skills needed to connect and integrate with the WACREN network. By addressing the technical challenges and facilitating knowledge transfer, this workshop will contribute to the overall goal of fostering a vibrant and collaborative research and education community in West and Central Africa.

Additionally, the workshop will provide essential guidance on acquiring public IP addresses, further supporting the NRENs in establishing robust and independent network operations.

WACREN is committed to supporting  NRENs in their journey towards seamless connectivity and enhanced network performance. We look forward to the active participation and collaboration of all stakeholders in making this training workshop a success.

Please note that this Workshop will be delivered in French, with English assistance.
