Description

Our regional engineers' Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshop is an exciting regional eduroam Roadshow this year. This dynamic event offers participants the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience deploying and configuring eduroam on university campus networks.

eduroam, the global roaming service for secure internet access, allows students, researchers, and staff to connect to the internet at any participating institution worldwide using their home institution credentials. With its extensive reach in over 100 countries and robust security features, eduroam simplifies connectivity, enhances user experience, and supports international collaboration.

Participants will learn to use the eduroam Switchboard service from the RRENs to manage their federations, enabling them to apply this knowledge within their respective campuses and NRENs.

Target Audience
Network Engineers and Administrators from WACREN NRENs

Objectives

  1. Educate participants on eduroam's robust security features and best practices for maintaining secure, reliable network access for all users.
  2. Provide participants with hands-on experience in deploying and configuring Eduroam on campus networks.
  3. Train participants using the eduroam Switchboard and eduID to manage federations and user identities proficiently.
  4. To foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among network administrators within the WACREN community.
  5. Promote eduroam adoption and enhancement to ensure seamless global connectivity and support international academic collaboration.

Expected Outcomes

  1. A functioning eduroam deployment on the University of Lagos campus.
  2. A platform for regional engineers to share experiences and solutions, fostering continuous learning and collaboration in eduroam deployment.
  3. Enhanced collaboration and knowledge sharing among WACREN network administrators.
A documented process and best practices guide for future eduroam deployments.

Please note that this workshop will be delivered in English

This event is supported by the AfricaConnect3 project (co-funded by the European Commission).
